ANNUAL PICNIC & AUCTION

Annual Picnic & Auction

June 3, 2023

Thank You

By Lynn Avery and Amanda Rollason

So many people made our annual picnic just so nice this year. To the crew of you who went through the sheds and made up all the lots ahead of time. To the folks who came early on Saturday to set up the tables outside and inside. To Ginger Lessard and John Anderson who planned a great fossil dig activity for our Junior Rock-hounds and worked outside so we could set up inside. To Mary Ingram and Michelle Puryear who were active contributors in helping set up the tables, tablecloths, cups, plates, food, cutting cakes, pies, setting up a table next to the wall for keeping food hot and numerous other details. To the 45+ people who shared a delicious dish at our potluck picnic. To all of you who supported our club by adding special pieces to your collections. To Lisa Moore who stayed until the very end helping us clean up and is so instrumental in keeping the grounds and the clubhouse looking so lovely. To Pat Brown who quickly got the plaque ready so we could surprise Keith Johnson on a day that so many including him were here. To Wayne Dodd who not only kept track of all of the lots folks bought and gathered the money, but also kept track of which collections have yielded what amount giving us valuable information at the touch of a finger. To the team of Lawrence Parker, Wes Manley, and Barry Rita for helping to really move the auction along quickly by having the next item ready, while one was being displayed and then delivered to the new owner. And finally to Jim Haege for not only bringing the BBQ and sauce each year which is always great, but especially for the information and knowledge about the worth of each item that brings more excitement and gives the club a greater return on its investments. So much work goes into this day, and we are grateful.

All members are invited to a fun day of great food, friends and an auction with all sorts of awesome rocks, minerals, and fossils that you can bid on to add to your collection. With adult supervision, we do allow the kids to bid.

The club provides the BBQ, buns, drinks, and paper goods. We have plenty of utensils. Members bring a favorite side dish to share that will serve 8-10 people.

Tentative Agenda:

10:00am – Fossil Dig (Junior Rockhounds)

12:00pm – Start Set-up for picnic

12:30 – Start Eating

Bring your side-dish, lawn chairs, card tables, floppy hats, and sunscreen. And don’t forget your cash/checkbook for the auction.
