To get an idea of the types of programs that we typically have each month, take a look at some of the previous presentations.
April’s meeting will give you a chance to ask geological questions to our resident geologists Rick Smith, Dion Stewart, and John Anderson. So, you can be thinking about questions you might ask about rocks and minerals that you have always wanted to know the answer. Or maybe you have wondered why some of the best mineral collecting is out west? You may have wondered why the Hawaiian volcanic islands are all in pretty much a straight line? Well April’s meeting will give you a chance to ask those questions you have always wanted an answer to.
Rick Smith our past Vice President is a geophysicist and has worked in the oil industry for several years as well as an environmental engineer for the Ohio EPA. Dion Stewart is a mineralogist and geochemist who has taught at colleges and universities for most of his career. John Anderson is a geologist and paleobiologist who has worked in the geotechnical industry as well as taught geology courses at several colleges and universities.
Several lots are auctioned off at each regular Member Meeting, which is typically held on the second Tuesday of every month. Our auctions are another way to add to one’s collection, usually at a great price, without having to travel too far, and helps with paying for the club’s operating expenses.
