Aggregates Quarry
September 19, 2015

This Quarry never lets you down and this trip led by Ken and Robie Hunt proved to be no exception! This day we not only found some beautiful pieces of blue quartz in the granite but Mike V. came up with one piece that had some great pyrite veins in it. That wasn’t the only pyrite infused piece found as we all rushed to his area to join him in the hunt. Joe M. was on the other side of the quarry quietly going through the rubble and found some beautiful purple fluorite in the granite.

The team from the Quarry, Jessica and Brandon who were there to oversee our field trip were great! They were extremely accommodating to our needs and interested in our finds. We had four geologists on the trip, Courtney, Jim, Joe and Dion, so there was an abundance of knowledge available and shared that made the trip very interesting! Some participants filled their buckets easily in less than two hours and left to take their finds home to clean, sort and cut or tumble. Others stayed longer to keep looking for the perfect blue.

Chris M. who stayed, found some gorgeous pieces with baby blue quartz (see photo above) . Ken and Robie were very helpful to participants and the two new members we had on the trip. The helpfulness, friendliness, and sharing by everyone on the trip made it an exceptional day! Many thanks to Quarry Team, and Ken and Robie for organizing this great trip!
